Khosi Simelane joined the Knowledge Translation Unit in June 2016 as a Nurse Trainer. She studied a Bachelor of Nursing Science (B.Cur) at the University of Natal and completed a Master of Nursing degree (maternal, child and women’s health) at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Khosi started her career working at a rural district hospital in KZN as a midwife and eventually went on to coordinate the PMTCT and BFHI programme at the hospital. In 2007 she worked at a public health NGO based in Durban as Maternal, child and women’s health technical support. She was a master trainer and was involved in training health workers in all the KZN districts for the first roll out of ARV and breastfeeding guidelines. She was also appointed as one of the nutrition advisor lecturers for the nutrition advisor programme which was launched in 2012 in all the KZN districts by the KZN department of health in partnership with UKZN extended learning. Khosi is passionate about maternal, child and women’s health and nutrition.
