Dr Ruth Cornick

Ruth Cornick has a background in Family Medicine and joined the Knowledge Translation Unit in November 2005 as a guideline developer, trainer and curriculum designer. Her clinical experience included integrating TB, HIV and ARV care in a primary care setting which formed the foundation for her public health master’s thesis and contributed towards strengthening the integration of these conditions in the PALSA PLUS guideline and training programme. She led the expansion of the PALSA PLUS guideline to become the comprehensive Primary Care 101 guide for adult care and the subsequent revisions of this clinical decision support tool for the Western Cape, South Africa (PACK Adult – Western Cape) and localisation for Botswana (PACK Adult Botswana). She heads the Knowledge Translation Unit’s Content Development Team that has since developed Global and localised versions of PACK in Brazil, Nigeria and Ethiopia, a localisation and mentorship package for further PACK in-country localisations, as well as expanded the PACK suite to include guidance for Child care, Adolescent care and Community Health Workers.
