Babalwa Zani is an M.Sc. graduate from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She joined the Knowledge Translation Unit in February 2015 as a Trial Site Coordinator for the COBALT trial. She previously worked at the South African Medical Research Council as a Scientist, where her responsibilities included conducting research on the translation of research evidence into policy, reviewing international and South African health related guidelines, conducting Cochrane reviews, production of policy briefs and technical summaries, lecturing and conducting capacity development workshops. Some of her reviews have been used to inform the WHO Malaria Treatment Guidelines. She has won an award for Best Oral Presentation at the SAMRC Research Day in 2007, and the Kenneth Warren Prize for the best Cochrane Review from the Developing Countries in 2014. Babalwa is currently doing the third year of her PhD and is writing up her dissertation.
