Dr Simphiwe Simelane
Senior Research Officer
Simphiwe Simelane is a research officer for the Knowledge Translation Unit (KTU), having joined the team in 2024.
She works on various research projects, which includes developing protocols, writing research papers, managing projects, and supporting grant writing. She also facilitates communication with partnering institutions and co-investigators to ensure smooth project progression and timely delivery of the end product.
Following her graduation as a medical doctor in 2016, she completed her compulsory internships and community service years by 2020. Since then she has served as a medical research officer at the Desmond Tutu TB Centre, and most recently as a medical officer for the WCG Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) strengthening team.
Simphiwe is passionate about strengthening health systems in Africa so that everyone is able to access and use quality health care close to home.
