Dr Robyn Curran
Senior Research Officer
Robyn Curran is a Senior Researcher Officer at the Knowledge Translation Unit and joined in 2017.
Over the past 8 years, Robyn has been involved in five health systems research studies. These include the HSRI-funded study from the UK on strengthening the quality of paediatric primary care; the NIHR-funded Global Health Research Unit ASSET; the EDCTP-funded Type 2 hybrid cluster trial on transmission of COVID-19 in crowded environments; a NIHR-funded programmatic award (ENHANCE) on developing a health systems intervention for people living with multi-morbidity; and a MRC-UK-funded award to strengthen the quality of primary healthcare for adolescents in South Africa (PACK Youth).
Robyn has extensive experience in midwifery, clinical trials and implementation science research locally in South Africa and internationally, in the UK and India.
She has a particular research interest in amplifying the voices of society’s most vulnerable so that failing health systems, which are operating on tradition rather than the evidence of effective practice, are challenged and that policies and practices change to become contextually relevant.
