Babalwa Zani
Senior Research Officer
Babalwa Zani is a Senior Research Officer at the Knowledge Translation Unit (KTU). She joined the team in May 2024.
In her current role, she is responsible for overseeing data collection and reporting of the ENHANCE trial.
In previous work with the KTU, she managed data collection and reporting for the COBALT and PRIME trials in the North West Province of South Africa.
Prior to joining the team, Babalwa worked for local and international organisations in the design, implementation and reporting of research studies which focused on HIV prevention and the mental and physical wellbeing of adolescent girls and young women. She also conducted several systematic reviews on the treatment of malaria, HIV prevention and HIV management. She supported the use of research evidence in policy-making at the South African NDoH and the World Health Organisation (WHO) by conducting commissioned systematic reviews and writing policy briefs and technical summaries.
Babalwa is a PhD candidate at UCT.
She is passionate about research that translates into policies and ultimately improves people’s lives.
